As You Go · PioneerPen
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 25, 2026
This page covers two apps by the same developer. Part 1 is As You Go. Part 2 is PioneerPen, further down. Each part describes only its own app.
Part 1 · As You Go
The short version: your ministry records stay on your own phone. As You Go has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the developer never receives your hours, reports, studies, addresses or notes.
Who we are
As You Go is a free field ministry companion app made by EJ Rosa, an independent developer. It is not affiliated with any organization. This policy covers the As You Go iPhone app and the web version.
What stays on your phone
Everything you enter is saved only in the app’s storage on your device: hours and time entries, reports, Bible studies, return visits, addresses, places you’ve served, notes, your name, congregation and secretary details, and your settings.
- There is no account and no server that stores your records.
- The developer cannot see, access or recover your data.
- Reminders are scheduled on your phone.
- If you delete the app or erase its data, your records are removed. Use Backup in Settings to keep a copy.
Backups and sending reports
- Backups and exports (JSON or CSV files, or copying to the clipboard) go only where you choose to save or share them, such as Files, iCloud Drive or email.
- Importing a backup is processed on your phone. Nothing is uploaded.
- Sending your report opens your own Messages, Mail, WhatsApp or share menu with the report filled in. Nothing is sent until you tap Send there.
- Feedback opens your email app with a message to the developer. Only what you see in that email is sent, and only if you send it.
- If you use your iPhone’s own iCloud or computer backup, Apple may include the app’s data in that backup, under Apple’s privacy policy.
Location
As You Go asks for your location only while you’re using it, and only for features you use: showing where you are on the map, filling in the address of a visit, and showing local weather. You can say no and still use the app, adding addresses by hand. You can change this anytime in your iPhone’s Settings.
The developer never receives your location, and the app keeps no location history beyond what you save. Locations you save with a visit stay on your phone with your other records.
Outside services the app contacts
A few features need the internet. When you use them, the app contacts these free services directly from your phone. Like any website, they receive your device’s internet (IP) address. None of them receive your ministry records.
- OpenStreetMap map tilesWhen you open the map, the map images for the area on screen are downloaded from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers (tile.openstreetmap.org). OSM Foundation privacy policy
- Nominatim address lookup (OpenStreetMap)When you look up an address, the app sends either the coordinates being looked up (to find the street address) or the address you typed (to find it on the map) to nominatim.openstreetmap.org. Your name, notes and other records are not sent. OSM Foundation privacy policy
- Open-Meteo weatherOnly when Show weather is on in Settings, the app sends an approximate location, rounded to about 1 km, to api.open-meteo.com to get the current forecast. Turn it off and Open-Meteo is never contacted. Open-Meteo terms and privacy
- jsDelivr or unpkgOnly when you import a backup file from another ministry app, the app downloads a free reading tool (sql.js) from cdn.jsdelivr.net, or unpkg.com if that’s unavailable. Your file is not sent; it’s read on your phone.
Links that open other apps
Some buttons open another app or website, which then follows its own privacy policy:
- Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps (whichever you choose in Settings, Google Maps by default), when you tap an address’s map or Directions link. That app receives the address or location.
- WhatsApp, Messages, Mail or the share menu, when you send a report or share an address.
- PayPal, if you choose to leave an optional tip. Any payment happens on PayPal’s site, and the app never sees your payment details.
- Other websites linked from the About section.
What we don’t do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
If you’ve chosen to share crash data with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may send the developer anonymous crash reports. These don’t include your records.
Children
As You Go isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Part 2 · PioneerPen
The short version: PioneerPen has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your letters are private and not stored by PioneerPen. To write a draft, the details you enter are sent through PioneerPen’s server to an AI writing service. A few settings and your timer sessions are saved on your own device only.
What PioneerPen is
PioneerPen is a free web app made by EJ Rosa, the same independent developer, that helps you write a personal letter. It is not affiliated with any organization. It is used in a web browser at mypioneerpen.vercel.app.
What you type, and where it goes
When you tap to generate a letter, PioneerPen sends the details you entered in the steps to its server: the kind of letter, the situation you describe, the recipient’s name if you enter one, the topic, the tone, the length and the language. The server passes them to an AI writing service (Claude, by Anthropic) to write the draft letters, and then sends the drafts back to you.
- There is no account. PioneerPen does not save your letters or the details you typed on its own server, and each request is independent.
- When you close or refresh the app, your letters are gone.
- The AI service handles what it receives under its own privacy policy: Anthropic privacy policy.
Tip: you don’t need to type last names, addresses, phone numbers or other private details to get a good letter. First names and general situations are enough.
What stays on your device
PioneerPen saves a few things in your browser only, so they are there next time: your language, paper size, letter font and size, whether you closed the install tip, and your timer and logged sessions. None of this is sent to the developer. You can clear it by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Voice input
If you use the microphone button, your browser’s own speech recognition does the listening. Depending on your browser, your device maker or browser company may process the audio. PioneerPen itself does not receive or keep your recordings.
Hosting
PioneerPen is hosted on Vercel. Like most websites, the host may keep basic technical records, such as your IP address and the time of a visit, for security and reliability.
Ads, tracking and links
- No ads, no account, and no analytics or tracking tools.
- The optional Support link takes you to PayPal, which has its own privacy policy. PioneerPen never sees your payment details.
- PioneerPen isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
